Hanging using Wall Anchors

Specifically engineered for use with plasterboard, wall anchors, or wall plugs, allow you to suspend heavy items, such as shelves or light fixtures, from plasterboard surfaces. Nails aren’t rough enough to hold plasterboard, which means they can cause heavy things to slip off walls. Although screws can secure items to plasterboard, the material is more often torn up by the tiny metal threads than held in place.

Invest in wall plugs to keep your walls and whatever you’re hanging from them safe from damage. Before screwing anything into an extension, hollow-wall or toggle anchor, make sure the hole is pre-drilled. After inserting the anchor, secure the object to the plasterboard.

Picture Frame Hanging Kits

Many light to medium weight wall hanging goods such as picture frames come with a hanging kit that includes plastic wall plugs. To prevent the screw from being able to back out of the hole, they function by applying stress to the sides of the hole and opening up at the rear when the screw is placed. In order to insert the anchor into the hole while ensuring that it remains flush with the wall, all you have to do is drill a hole that is slightly larger than the anchor’s widest point prior to its lip. Then, screw the screw into the anchor, being sure to allow a little protrusion for hanging purposes.

Hanging Heavier Items

When you need to hang things that are heavier, a French cleat is the way to go. The French cleat is useful for distributing the load of the suspended object. They are an excellent choice for anything that is heavier than your standard canvas picture or other lightweight piece of art.
